Woking & District Sports Quiz League
2024/25 Season Review & AGM
The 2024/25 season was the 34th edition of the league which first began in 1991. For the first time all six teams played in one division which included the reintroduction of the Handicap League, which was won by Boxgrove Scorpions, the first winners since Hurst CC won in 2012/13. The Division One title was retained by Northwood Town who won 14 of the 15 league fixtures. St. John’s Wood Strollers were second and London Calling third.
Kingsmeadow achieved ‘the cup double’ winning both the Buzzer Cup and Football Buzzer Cup in dramatic fashion, beating London Calling in the Buzzer Cup final on the last question and Northwood in the football version on a sudden death tie break.
In the individual events John Hayes of Northwood Town won the Division 1 singles title and Steven Lynch of St. Johns Wood Strollers the Dave Smith Cup.
In other events the season ending Woodbridge Shield was won by London Calling and the reintroduced Football Quiz by Kingsmeadow. The Geoff Richards Trophy for the best quiz of the season was awarded to London Calling’s first quiz with an average score of 7.8.

AGM
Next season, our 35th year, will again feature six teams in a single league format. Two proposals were agreed as follows:
1 A trial of a team quiz based on the singles evening format to evaluate its potential to be a variant league fixture in future seasons.
2 Both the Buzzer Cup and Football Buzzer Cup to be held on one single evening.
